Reconciling VoIP Usage, Billing Increments and Your Balance

How to check what a set of calls should cost from your own call records, the published rate and the billing increment.

The calculation

  • Take each connected call's duration in seconds from your dialer's CDRs.
  • Apply the billing increment for the prefix: charge at least the initial block, then round the remainder up to the next recurring block.
  • Cost per call = billed seconds ÷ 60 × the rate per minute for the longest matching prefix in effect on the call date.
  • Sum per destination and compare with the account movement for the same period.

Worked example

A 61-second call on 1/1 billing is billed as 61 seconds. On 6/6 it is billed as 66 seconds. On 60/60 it is billed as 120 seconds. At $0.0100 per minute the costs are $0.0102, $0.0110 and $0.0200 — the same call, nearly double the cost on 60/60.

Common reasons totals differ

  • A rate change took effect during the period (check effective dates).
  • Calls matched a more specific (longer) prefix than you assumed, for example a mobile prefix rather than the country's fixed rate.
  • Your dialer counts duration from a different point (ring vs. answer).
  • Rounding applied per call rather than on the total.

At CallCenterBoost

The client portal shows your wallet balance and wallet transactions, and the published rate sheet states every prefix's rate, billing increment and effective date. A per-call CDR export is not currently provided in the portal, so reconciliation uses your own dialer's call records against the published rates. Raise any discrepancy in a Billing / Payment ticket with the period and destinations concerned.
